(RESULTS) New Paltz, NY — In the last home meet of the season, the State University of New York at New Paltz closed out with two strong performances on both the men's and women's sides against visiting Western Connecticut State to earn a pair of victories in honor of its five graduating seniors.
The Hawks' men clinched a 87-67 win, while the women closed out a 83-57 victory over the Colonials in the final dual meet of the season in Elting Pool Saturday. Prior to the race, SUNY New Paltz honored its five graduating seniors,
Matthew Pero,
Tim Stecher,
Chelsea Angulas,
Sarah Crespo and
Samantha Woll for their dedication and commitment to the program, with all five playing a big role in a dominating day.
The Hawks opened up the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Zac Brown,
Graham Cono, Pero and Alex Palmero Baluev clocking in with a winning time of 1 minute, 47.52 seconds.

Stecher (200 freestyle),
Kirsten Giovanniello (200 freestyle) and Brown (200 individual medley) won back-to-back-to-back events after clocking in with winning times of 1:54.40, 2:07.36 and 2:08.43, respectively.
Tessa Griger (2:24.11),
Lindsay Kranitz (2:27.86) and
Grace Rocks (2:35.66) followed up with a 1-2-3 finish in the women's 200 individual medley, combining to earn 16 points for their team.
SUNY New Paltz placed first and second in both the men's and women's 50-yard freestyle with Mitchell Chappell (23.82) and Angulas (25:73) each touching first in their respective races. Giovanniello won her second event of the day after clocking in at 1:04.59 in the 100-yard butterfly. Woll and Crespo placed first and second, respectively, with times of 57.20 and 58.49 seconds.
The Hawks then closed out the meet with a pair of victories in the men's and women's 400 freestyle relay. The team of
Nolan West, Chappell, Stecher and Pero earned a winning time of 2:07.36, while the quartet of Rocks, Woll, Crespo and Angulas clocked in at 2:32.54 to place first.
SUNY New Paltz is back in the pool Jan. 25 when it travels to SUNY Oneonta for a dual meet against the Catskill Cup rival Red Dragons.
