Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Wallace's Career-High 19 Points not Enough to Lift Brockport Over Morrisville

Morrisville, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team traveled for its season opener against Morrisville State on Tuesday night. The Green and Gold drop to 0-1 to start the year, losing a close 73-70 game.

Jahidi Wallace led the way with a career-high 19 points, shooting 11-for-14 at the free throw line. Justin Summers logged 12 points and five boards, while teammate Tyler Collins finished with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The team's traded buckets for the majority of the opening half of play, as the score was tied at 22-22 with 8:46 on the clock. Brockport closed the half strong, outscoring Morrisville 14-7 in the final six minutes. The Golden Eagles shot over 50% in the first half, on the way to gaining a 39-31 lead at the mid-game break.

The Mustangs would get right back into the game, as a three-point shot just inside the 17-minute mark would cut Brockport's lead to 42-40. Back to back stops defensively helped the team recapture its eight-point lead, as Brockport led 62-54 with seven minutes left in regulation.

A quick 7-2 run in the final three minutes and some clutch free throws helped Morrisville take a three-point lead in the final moments of the game. Tyler Collins hoisted up a shot with a chance to tie it at the buzzer, but a miss secured the 73-70 win for the Mustangs.

Morrisville had four double-digit scorers, but was led by a 14-point, 19-rebound double-double from Kevin Dennis. The home team outrebounded Brockport, 41-26, in the game.

The Golden Eagles return to the hardwood on Tuesday, November 19th for their home opener. They play host to Hobart College for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
