The SUNY Oneonta softball team traveled to Brockport today and left with a split of a SUNYAC doubleheader. The Red Dragons won the first game 3-1, but fell in the second game 4-2. Oneonta is now 17-11 overall and 9-5 in conference play seeing its eight-game win streak snapped with the loss in the nightcap.

Oneonta posted its three runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 1-0 deficit in the first game. All three runs came with two outs.

Selena Ruiz (Westbury/W.T. Clarke), who finished the game with three hits, started the inning with a single to center field. She was put out at second base on a fielder's choice, which allowed
Lauren Sabatino (Bayville/Locust Valley) to reach first base. Senior
Cori McFall (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) then singled to right field moving pinch runner
Alyssa Garrison (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) to second base.

Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) flied out to center field, freshman
Amanda Sexton (Port Jervis/Port Jervis) singled to left field to drive in Garrison while advancing pinch runner
Jade Meehan (Halcottsville/Roxbury Central) to second base. Freshman
Caroline Koch (New City/Clarkstown South) then singled to drive in Meehan, but on the play, there was a throwing error by the center fielder, which allowed Sexton to score as well.

Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack) picked up her fifth straight win going the distance allowing four hits and striking out five Golden Eagles.

Game 2 recap
In the second game today, Oneonta managed single runs in the first and sixth innings to account for its scoring. Junior
Dana Del Genio (New Hartford/New Hartford) was 4-for-4 at the plate with a run scored to lead the offense. Del Genio scored her run in the first inning on a wild pitch after leading off the game with a single before stealing second.

Brockport (13-17, 3-11 SUNYAC) tied the game in the home half of the first and added another run in the third. They posted a pair of runs in the fifth inning for its final total of the game.

Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) driving in Sexton, who had doubled prior to her.
