WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs surrendered two early scores, the first just 25 seconds into the contest, in their brief break from conference competition.
  • However, Eric Melso (Philadelphia, Pa.) delivered a power play strike just over the midway point through the first period to kick start the Morrisville comeback.  Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) and James Boisvert (Mansfield, Tex.) picked up the assists.
  • Just under four minutes later, the Mustangs found the equalizer as Christian Vella (Rochester, N.Y.) picked up what would be his first of two goals on the night off of assists from DeVito and Melso.
  • Boisvert broke the deadlock at the 2:14 mark in the second with his third goal of the season to give Morrisville the 3-2 lead.
  • Bennett Weycker (Appleton, Wis.) gave the Mustangs a two goal cushion with Morrisville's second power play goal of the game just over two minutes later.  Rich Hart (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Ben Sprague (Norfolk, N.Y.) were credited with the assists.
  • SUNY Canton pulled within one late in the second period with a power play tally of their own.
  • Ryan Bochert (Denver, Colo.) notched what would eventually be the game winner with an even handed goal at the 4:11 mark in the third.  Jesse Anderson (Wasaga Beach, Ont.) and Sprague picked up the assists on the goal, the second of the night for both players.
  • After conceding a shorthanded goal late in the third period to once again allow the Roos within one, Vella put the exclamation point on the victory with an empty netter with five seconds remaining in the contest.
  • Owen Liskiewicz (Redbank, N.J.) picked up the win, recording 41 saves, 19 of which came in the second period alone.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • Morrisville returns to home ice next weekend as they host Oswego State in a State Universities of New York Athletic Conference showdown.  The Mustangs open the series on Friday with a 7 PM puck drop.
