2017 SUNYAC Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll Announced

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has released its inaugural Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2017 season. Cortland has been selected by the conference coaches as this year's favorite to win the SUNYAC Championship, with a combined 49 points.

Last season, Cortland claimed their 34th SUNYAC Championship, defeating Oswego 3-1. This was Head Coach Joe Brown's 15th SUNYAC Championship since taking over the team in 2000. The Red Dragons are the top ranked team in the nation entering the 2017 season by D3baseball.com

Oswego was voted second in the Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll, tallying 40 points. The Lakers, who finished 35-11 last year and coming off a trip to the Division III Baseball Championships, are preseason ranked 12th in the nation according to D3baseball.com

These two top-ranked teams will not face each other until late-April, where the Lakers will travel to Cortland, NY for a weekend series.

Brockport finished with 34 points, earning third place in the 2017 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Golden Eagles' most recent SUNYAC Championship came in 2010, under Head Coach Justin Beach.
