Geneseo wins 2016 SUNYAC Field Hockey Championship

GENESEO, N.Y. Geneseo captured its second State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) field hockey title Saturday at College Stadium. The Knights defeated Oneonta, 3-2 in overtime to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

This is the second-ever SUNYAC crown and first since 2010, both under current head coach Jessica Seren.

The SUNYAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, Giovanna Fasanello scored all three goals for Geneseo. Nicole Gregg had six saves in the goal for the Knights.

Killeen Martin and Anna Torri both scored for the Oneonta Red Dragons, while goalie Danell Jones had four saves.
