Ascencao was the catalyst in a 6-1 win over Oswego State Sept. 28 for the Hawks. The sophomore out of Mohegan Lake, NY was involved in five of SUNY New Paltz's six goals and was virtually unguardable in the win. She started her afternoon with the game's opening goal to put her team in front. After the Lakers tied it, she gave the Hawks the go-ahead score not long after. She then assisted Shannon Bernhardt to extend the lead to 3-1. She scored once more and assisted on another to end the evening with three goals and two assists. It was Ascencao's second career hat trick and her eight points ranked third all-time in single game program history.
