NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Set for March 10-11

CORTLAND, N.Y. - On March 6, the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Among the many athletes that qualified, several State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) athletes will compete in this year's championships. The championships will be held March 10-11th at the Res Rec Center in Naperville, Illinois, with North Central College serving as the official host.

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each woman's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 17 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

SUNYAC MEN:

Mohamed Kouyate of Buffalo State will compete in the men's 400 meter dash. Kouyate qualified with a time of 49.03 and finished first at the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Oswego State's Ben Griffin will compete in the men's 800 meter run after qualifying for NCAA's with a time of 1:52.82 at the Ithica College Bomber Invitational.

Oneonta's Jeffrey Mahar, Mike Engesser, Sam Mahar, and Ruben Gill will compete in the men's 4x400 medley relay, after qualiyfing with a time of 3:19.17.

In the men's pole vault, Brockport's Kyle Cohen qualified after reaching a height of 4.92m at the 2017 ECAC DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships. Brockport's Jon Rogers will compete in the men's shot put, after qualifying with a distance of 17.39m.

Issac Garcia-Cassani of Geneseo will compete in the men's 1 mile run after qualifying with a time of 4:08.53 at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Garcia-Casssani will join his 4x400 medley relay team, who includes Luke Holtzman, Gillan Faulkner, and Zach Hannahoe. The team qualified for NCAA's with a time of 9:56.21. Geneseo's Alex Kramer will also join the Knights at NCAAs. Kramer will compete in the men's 5000 meter run, qualifying with a time of 14:31.02.

Cortland men's indoor track and field team will be sending eight competitors to the NCAA Division III Championships. The Red Dragons will be represented by Storm Malone (60 meter hurdles), Devlen Williams (long jump), Dawan Jones (triple jump), Christopher White (triple jump), and Mitchel Couch (weight throw). Jack Flood, Connor Christopherson, and Brent Di Vittorio will all represent Cortland in the men's heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Championships. 

SUNYAC WOMEN:

On the women's side, Geneseo's Camille Wutz will compete in the 60 meter dash with a qualifying time of 7.78. Joining her from Geneseo, are Marissa Cossaro (3000 meters) and Elise Ramirez (5000 meters). Geneseo's Alexa Wandy will compete in both the women's long jump (5.82m) and triple jump (12.30m).

Fredonia's Brittany Feldman will compete in the 400 meter dash, after qualifying with a time of 57.05 at the Tufts Final Qualifier.

Stephanie Boucher of Plattsburgh will compete in the 800 meter run, with a qualifying time of 2:13.57

Kayla Clohessy of Oneonta will also compete in the women's long jump, with a qualifying time of 5.74m. Joining her from Oneonta will be Meghan Serdock. Serdock will compete in the women's weight throw after qualifying with a distance of 18.01m. 

Brockport's Marisa Gosdeck will compete in the women's pentathlon, qualifying with a combined 3274 points.
