Averaging a double-double for the home stretch to playoffs, Oswego senior Tyler Pierre (Deer Park, N.Y.) receives the final State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the 2018-19 regular season.  

In his final home game of the regular season against No. 5 Oneonta, the center had 14 points and 10 rebounds with a field goal percentage of 63.6. Pierre also had 2 blocks during their loss to Oneonta with the final score of 70-55.

On the road, Pierre scored 18 points,12 rebounds, and 1 block to help his team win over No. 3 Brockport. He went 7-10 from the field to gain a percentage of 70. The final score of the game was 85-69.  

For his last regular season game, Pierre walked away with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal. He was 8-11 on shooting with a field goal percentage of 72.7 and 5-6 at the free throw line for a percentage of 83.3. Pierre’s effort helped his team to get the win over Geneseo with the final score of 69-63.

Tyler Pierre’s season’s field goal percentage (70.5%), ranks first in the SUNYAC and second in Division III nationally. Pierre and the Oswego Lakers head into the SUNYAC playoffs as the No. 1 seed awaiting the first round victory of either No. 4 Cortland or No.5 Oneonta.
