Homitz, Schneider & Tretowicz earn PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Weekly honors

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland's Ethan Homitz (Allison Park, P.A.) as PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week, Brockport's Matt Schneider (Manlius, N.Y.) as PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week and Plattsburgh's Adam Tretowicz (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) as this week's PrestoSports Rookie of the Week.

Homitz helped lead Cortland to a pair of non-conference road wins last week, scoring four points on three goals and one assist and recording a +5 rating. In a 4-1 victory at Canton on Tuesday, Homitz collected an assist. He then followed up with his first career hat trick, including the game-winning goal in the third period, and a +4 rating as the Red Dragons knocked off Elmira, 5-3, on Saturday night. For the season, Homitz is tied for the team lead in scoring with 21 points on a team-high 13 goals and eight assists. He currently is tied for first nationally in Div. Schneider totaled 37 saves in a 1-1 weekend between the pipes as Brockport locked up a spot in the SUNYAC Conference Tournament for the second straight year. His 2-0 shut out win over Buffalo State on Saturday helped him to tie the school-record for care.

Tretowicz tallied two goals and two assists for four points with a +2 rating to help Plattsburgh men's ice hockey to a 6-5 road win over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday night. He set career highs in assists and points in the game, and he also won 55 percent (11-of-20) of his face-offs. Tretowicz assisted on the Cardinals' first goal of the game before scoring the second goal of the night to put Plattsburgh in front, 2-0. He then assisted a second goal of the game that made the score 4-2 in favor of the Cardinals at 18:50 of the second period. After Potsdam had tied the game at 4-4, Tretowicz scored his second goal of the game to give Plattsburgh State a 5-4 lead at 14:13 of the third period. With his performance, Tretowicz (7-8-15) is tied for the team lead in goals and is second in points in 2019-20. He leads all Plattsburgh State freshmen in goals, assists and points.
