OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Dan Kane as its head men's soccer coach.

Kane comes to Oswego after pioneering the men's soccer program at Wells College over the past eight seasons. During that time he steadily increased the program's success, including a second-place finish in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship in 2015.

The Skaneateles, N.Y. resident was named NEAC Coach of the Year during that season on the heels of the Express posting a 13-win season, including nine wins in the conference, both of which set school records. His teams were a two-time NSCAA Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Silver Award recipient, bestowed upon squads that complete a season with less than five yellow cards and no red card infractions.

Off the field, Kane helped transform the squad's academic culture, helping raise the importance of a strong education. He developed a comprehensive student-athlete education program, which has been implemented throughout the entire athletic department. During the 2015 season, the men's soccer team was recognized with a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) award for having a total grade-point average higher than 3.0.

During his undergraduate tenure at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., Kane played all four years, earning All-Conference recognition from the Capital Athletic Conference. He also received the Director's Award for being one of two outstanding senior student-athletes. Following this, Kane attended Baltimore's Goucher College, where he earned his Master of Arts in education and graduated Summa Cum Laude. While pursuing his degree, Kane also served as graduate assistant coach for the Gopher's men's soccer program.

During his time at Wells College, Kane took on several other roles in the department outside of coaching men's soccer. He headed both the men's and women's golf teams for three years, leading the squads to the lowest scores in program history. At an administrative level, Kane served as the acting athletic director for a period of nine months and was the assistant athletics director for facilities over his final four years with the Express.

Outside of the collegiate sphere, Kane currently acts as head coach of the under-15 New York West Olympic Development Program in Syracuse, N.Y.
