CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces its Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Decade, Coach of the Decade and All-Decade Team as nominated and voted on by the institution's sports information directors.
To be eligible for the All-Decade Team, athletes must have competed in the SUNYAC at least one season during the 2009-10 academic year through 2019-20. All-SUNYAC honorees, conference/meet record holders, Athlete of the Year, All-American honorees, national champions or athletes that qualified for nationals in more than one season were considered. Athlete and Coach of the Decade recipients were previously named SUNYAC Athlete of the Year or Coach of the Year.
SUNYAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Decade - Samuel Randall, Geneseo
Randall was a two-time national champion winning the 1 meter dive in 2016 and the 3 meter dive in 2018. Over his four years with the Knights, he earned six All-American certificates (top eight finishes at NCAAs). Randall was a four-time NCAA championships qualifier and won five SUNYAC individual titles (three one-meter, two three-meter). He was honored as the SUNYAC Diver of the Meet two times and the SUNYAC Diver of the Year three times. Randall was named to the All-SUNYAC team four times as well as being a part of a team that won four SUNYAC championship team titles. Randall holds all Geneseo men's diving records and holds six-dive and 11-dive SUNYAC 1 meter diving records.
SUNYAC Men's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Decade - Paul Dotterweich, Geneseo
Dotterweich has been the head coach at Geneseo for 20 Seasons accumulating a 166-31 overall men's dual match record and 78-24 this decade. He was named the SUNYAC Men's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year seven times this decade. Dotterweich led his team to nine men's swimming and diving SUNYAC championships this decade (19 overall). He coached eight All-Americans, the two-time National Champion Sam Randall (SUNYAC Athlete of the Decade), three SUNYAC Championship Swimmer of the Meet winners, five SUNYAC Championships Diver of the Meet Winners, three SUNYAC Swimmer of the Year winners, five SUNYAC Diver of the Year winners and six James Fulton Award Winners this decade.
