SUNYAC announces women's swimming & diving annual awards

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to announce the 2017 SUNYAC women's swimming and diving annual awards. Each year, conference coaches vote on these awards to honor the SUNYAC Swimmer of the Year, Diver of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.

 Swimmer of the Year: Nancy Nasky, Geneseo

Nasky, a sophomore from Brighton, N.Y., is coming off a stellar second year swimming for the Geneseo Knights. After dominating the SUNYAC championships, placing first in the 1650, 200 and 500 freestyle events, and the 800 free relay, Nasky was awarded Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet. She then qualified 15th (17:10.95) in the women's 1650 freestyle at the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships; ultimately placing ninth overall and earning Honorable Mention All-America honors. Additionally, Nasky earned her second First Team All SUNYAC. This is Nasky's second consecutive Swimmer of the Year award.

 

 Diver of the Year: Meghan Bartlett, Fredonia

Fredonia's Meghan Bartlett has been awarded this year's SUNYAC Diver of the Year. The Johnstown, N.Y. native was the 2017 SUNYAC Outstanding Diver of the Meet at the SUNYAC Championships, after claiming first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter. The senior would then qualify for the 2017 NCAA DIII Championships, placing third in the 3-meter and fourth in the 1-meter. Bartlett ends her impressive diving career, earning an astonishing six All-America honors throughout her three years with the Blue Devils. This is Bartlett's third consecutive SUNYAC Diver of the Year award.

 

 

 Rookie of the Year: Emily Ross, Oswego

Oswego's Emily Ross has been selected by the coaches as this year's SUNYAC Rookie of the Year. The freshman from Wilmington, Del. had a strong inaguaral season competing for the Lakers. In her first meet of the season, Ross claimed her first collegiate victory in the 100 breastroke (1:15.66). At SUNYACs, Ross finished sixth in the 200 breaststroke, was part of the relay team to finish seventh place in the 200 medley relay, and contributed to a fifth place finish in the 400 medley relay.
