ECAC honors Meszaros with defensive award
ECAC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State junior goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros has been named ECAC Division III Upstate Region Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Selden, N.Y., Meszaros was cited for her three shutouts last week which led the Blue Devils to a playoff spot in the SUNYAC Tournament. She made one save in a 4-0 victory over Elmira College. On Friday, she made five saves in a 3-0 win over Plattsburgh State. On Saturday, she made one save in a 5-0 win over Potsdam State.
She has posted five consecutive shutouts and has not allowed a goal in over 483 minutes.
In addition, her goals-against average fell to .593 -- ranked 36th in NCAA Divsion III.
Out of 440 NCAA teams, the Blue Devils overall are 32nd in save percentage (.879), 36th in shutout percentage (one for every 0.6 games), and 62nd in goals-against average (.732).
Meszaros is the second Fredonia State women's soccer player to receive an ECAC Upstate award this season. Senior forward Reilly Condidorio was selected Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 4.
Like Meszaros, Condidorio is also ranked among the NCAA D-III statistical leaders on lists released Monday. She is 70th in total points (26), 84th in goals per game (0.80), and 109th in points per game (1.73).
