Senior Spotlight: Kiersten Colvin

CORTLAND, N.Y. - This week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Volleyball Senior Spotlight is on Geneseo's Kiersten Colvin.

The economics major from Rockville Centre, N.Y. has served as a two-year captain for the Knights, at the middle she lead the team to an undefeated regular season in conference play for the second-consecutive year in 2019. Colvin and the Knights reached the SUNYAC Championship for the second-straight season, posting an 18-12 mark on the year. Colvin has served as a student-athlete mentor in the Geneseo Student-Athlete Resource Center for the past two years, while also participating in several on-campus organizations such as Fed Challenge, CFA Institute Research Challenge, Women in Business, Relay for Life and Geneseo Opportunities for Leadership Development (GOLD).

"Kiersten is a one of a kind teammate and friend. She puts everyone before herself and doesn't think twice about it. Her leadership ability is unmatched by the way that she always leads by example, is someone that is always willing to help, and someone who's desire for the game grows with every point. She performs with 110% no matter the situation. She is a great teammate to play with because she pushes you to your best, picks you up when you are down and she handles an upcoming problem with grace and determination. I have only played with Kiersten for a short time but the instant friendship we have created makes it feel like a lifetime. She is someone I wish to be able to play every one of my games with, down to the last point. She is the definition of a perfect teammate and she is one that has impacted me and inspired me to always keep my head up high and never be afraid to dream big and achieve my goals." - Grace Thomas '22

"Kiersten has been a model student-athlete from her very first day at Geneseo. She is tirelessly hard-working, driven, supportive, and competitive in all aspects of her physical training. She seeks out every possible opportunity to grow her skills academically, professionally, and mentally both in and out of the classroom. With only 24 hours in a day, Kiersten achieves excellence in 26-30 hours worth of commitments. With all that Kiersten has engaged in during her four years at Geneseo, her passion for leaving behind a legacy of long-term success has never taken a back seat. For all of these reasons and more, Kiersten will serve as an example of what a Geneseo volleyball student-athlete represents for years and teams to come." - Coach Drews
