2024 SUNYAC Men's Swimming & Diving Awards Announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces the 2024 Men's Swimmer of the Year, Diver of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards as nominated and voted on by the conference coaches. 

Men's Swimmer of the Year - Jake Nielsen, Geneseo
Nielsen repeats as the SUNYAC Men's Swimmer of the Year. He earned second team All-America honors in the 50 freestyle (new conference record), 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay. He was also a part of the conference record setting 400 medley relay at the NCAA championships. At the SUNYAC championship meet, he won the 50 and 100 freestyle and placed second in the 100 breaststroke. Nielsen was also a part of four winning relays at SUNYAC's.

Men's Diver of the Year - Trent Makowiec, Geneseo
Makowiec is the SUNYAC Diver of the Year for the third year in a row. He won both boards at the SUNYAC championship meet to take the Outstanding Male Diver of the Meet award for the third straight season. He also placed second on both boards at the NCAA Division III championships earning two first team All-America honors.

Men's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Year - Alex Palmer, Geneseo
In his first year with the Knights, Palmer scored 52 individual points at the 2024 SUNYAC championships. He was the SUNYAC champion in the 200 breaststroke breaking the conference meet record. Palmer also placed third in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. In addition he swam the breaststroke leg on the 400 medley relay SUNYAC champion team.
