Softball Hosts "StrikeOut Against Cancer" Event Saturday vs. Geneseo

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State softball team will host a "StrikeOut Against Cancer" event Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals host Geneseo in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) doubleheader at Cardinal Park. Game times are set for noon and 2 p.m.

The "StrikeOut Cancer" initiative unites the American Cancer Society and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to help raise awareness and funds to assist in the battle against cancer. Since starting the StrikeOut Cancer program over 10 years ago, NFCA membership teams have raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the fight against cancer.

Members of the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team will be on-hand to conduct a 50/50 raffle and sell pink t-shirts. All proceeds will be donated to the Alex Hollander Education Fund. Alex is the son of former Buffalo State softball coach of 24 years, Sandy Hollander, who lost her six-year battle with cancer during the 2012 season.
