SUNYAC Softball games delayed on day 2 of championship

CORTLAND, N.Y. - After getting in two of the four games of the day, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) softball championship has been haulted due to the rain. Games have been pushed to Saturday.

In the first game of the day, Cortland got off to a 2-0 lead in the second inning against Oneonta. Then the two Red Dragons matched each other in runs for the next four innings. Cortland held Oneonta in the seventh to win the game 9-7. With the loss Oneonta was eliminated ending their season 22-17 overall.

Geneseo defeated Plattsburgh, 8-6, in the second game Friday. The Cardinals had to turn around and play Buffalo State in an elimination game following their loss. The rain put a damper on that game haulting it in the second inning. The game will be played Saturday at 10 a.m.

The two undefeated teams in the tournament, Cortland and Geneseo will now face off at noon Saturday. The third game of the day will be played at 2 p.m. and the championship game will be pushed to Sunday.
