OSWEGO, N.Y. - New Paltz won its first-ever SUNYAC men's basketball championship after defeating Oswego, 80-85, Saturday at Oswego. With the win the Hawks earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Kobe Bogart was named the Tournament MVP after totaling 47 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two assists for the Hawks in the semifinal and final games.
Elite 20 - An award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
On Friday night, the SUNYAC recognized New Paltz's Rylan Blondo as this year's Men's Basketball Elite 20 winner. He is a management/analytics graduate student maintaining a 4.00 GPA.
