Oneonta Men and Cortland Women Capture SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Titles

The SUNY Cortland women’s indoor track and field team won its second straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and 16th overall while SUNY Oneonta men captured its first title in program history Saturday. The meet was held for the first time at Brockport’s Special Events and Recreation Center.

The Cortland women won the title with 172 points, 55.5 points ahead of second place Geneseo. On the men's side it came down to the end with a win in the 4x400m relay by Oneonta to take the crown with 153 points, 6.5 points ahead of second place Cortland.

Six SUNYAC meet records were broken, three on the men's side and three on the women's side.

Oneonta's Jake Alviene topped the 60 meter hurdles record from last year finishing in 8.18. Teammate Sean Bernstein ran the 60 meter dash in 6.82 to make break the 2012 SUNYAC meet record of 6.92.

The Cortland men's distance medley team of Pat Fannon, Jerel WIlliams, Julio Melendey and Cody Amengnal broke the SUNYAC meet record set in 2011 with a time of 10:20.18.

Buffalo State's Jazmin Dunham made a new 60 meter hurdles record finishing 8.91 while her teammate Sasha Henry took the title in the 60 meter dash and broke the record with a time of 7.63.

Cortland's Sarah Bonnell broke the long jump meet record set last year with a 5.77m jump.
