McDonough Earns 2023 SUNYAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC names Plattsburgh's Aislyn McDonough as this year's Women's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. This award is nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors. 

McDonough finished her undergrad with a 3.86 overall GPA and holds a 3.93 graduate GPA. She is a childhood education/special education major. McDonough was the 2023 SUNYAC champion in 800-meter run. Her season-best time in the event was 2:14.64 in 2023. McDonough was USTFCCCA All-Region and First-Team All-SUNYAC this season. She was slso named the SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the winter. McDonough was named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll four times in her career.

During each season, the conference honors student-athletes for their efforts in their sport, as well as their academics. Out of hundreds of spring athletes, one athlete from each sport was selected for this distinction. In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
