SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland teammates Mat Bruno and Dylan Beers have been selected as the SUNYAC Baseball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

Bruno hit .588 (10-for-17) with two homers, two doubles, 11 RBI and five runs scored during a 4-0 week for the Red Dragons. He drove in a combined 10 runs on Friday in a doubleheader sweep of Oswego to open SUNYAC play. He was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a 10-0 win in the opener and went 4-for-5 with two homers and seven RBI during a 15-4 victory in the nightcap. On Sunday, he went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs in a 10-0 win over the Lakers.

Beers threw a no-hitter as Cortland defeated visiting Oswego, 10-0, in the opening game of a SUNYAC doubleheader Friday. He struck out 12 batters in the game, which was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule, and he missed a perfect game by just one batter when he issued a walk with one out in the sixth inning. The no-hitter is the 21st in Cortland's program history and the first since 2018.
