NATIONAL CHAMPION!!! Lance Jensen Wins The 400m At NCAA's

VIRGINIA BEACH, V.A. - Lance Jensen earned the third individual National Championship of his career on Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Championship Meet in Virginia Beach. Jensen notched the third-fastest time in Division III history (46.95) to become the 400m Men's Indoor Track and Field National Champion.

Jensen highlighted the championship meet for the Knights in electric fashion, beating out second place in the 400m by just .02 seconds. In addition to being the third fastest time in Division III history, Jensen set a new program record for Geneseo. The Candor, N.Y. native brought home his third individual national championship after winning the 400m hurdles at last year's outdoor track and field NCAA meet, and being a part of the winning 4x400 relay team at last year's indoor track and field NCAA meet.

The Knights also competed in the 4x400 relay on Saturday, finishing fifth, earning First-Team All-American honors. The team of Jensen, Brendan StyleAndrew Kent, and Matthew Sheehan put up a time of 3:14.56.

DAY 1 RECAP:
VIRGINIA BEACH, V.A. - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team traveled to Virginia Beach to compete in the two day NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships.

In the long jump, Bryan Jacobs earned Second-Team All-American honors with a ninth-place finish at a distance of 6.99m. Ryan Hagan competed in the mile for Geneseo, and just missed out on qualifying for the final, but earned Second-Team All-American recognition with his time of 4:11.28.

Lance Jensen qualified for the final in the 400m, posting the seventh-fastest time in preliminaries at 48.06. Teammate Andrew Kent also competed in the 400m and finished in 17th with a time of 49.04.

The team of Jensen, Kent, Matthew Sheehan, and Brendan Style also reached the final round tomorrow, recording a time of 3:15.64 for eighth overall in the preliminaries.
