Cortland's Davey and Williams named SUNYAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected two Cortland student-athletes as recipients for its weekly awards in women's swimming and diving. Junior Kelly Davey (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) is the Swimmer of the Week, while freshman Taylor Williams (Middletown, N.Y.) is the Diver of the Week.

Davey won two individual events and swam on two winning relays in Cortland's 153-147 dual win at Oswego. She won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.52 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:26.80. She led off the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:54.28) with a 50-yard backstroke leg in 28.88 seconds. In the final 200-yard freestyle relay, with Cortland needing a victory to earn the team title, Davey swam the second 50-yard leg in 24.49 seconds - the fastest of any competitor in the race - and Cortland ended up winning the race by three hundredths of a second (1:43.15).

Meanwhile, Williams won both diving events in Cortland's 153-147 dual-meet victory at Oswego. She finished with scores of 234.15 points on the 3-meter board and 233.90 points on the 1-meter board.
