Geneseo's Ramirez and Held honored as SUNYAC Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected its weekly recipients, both from Geneseo, for its weekly awards in women's track and field. Senior Elise Ramirez (Nesconset, N.Y.) is the Track Athlete of the Week, while senior Shayna Held (Wantagh, N.Y.) is the Field Athlete of the Week.

Ramirez won the mile (5:04.81) and later finished second in the 3,000 (10:21.17) at the Houghton Highlander Invitational, Friday. Her mile time currently ranks eighth in Division III (1st in SUNYAC), while her 3,000 time is 30th (2nd in SUNYAC). 

Meanwhile, Held won the long jump at the Highlander Invitational, Friday, with the sixth-best mark (5.59m/18' 4.25") in Division III this winter . She also finished third in the 200 (26.74) with a time that currently ranks 10th in the SUNYAC.
