McCarey and McDonough Named SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Kathleen McCarey (Geneseo) and Aislyn McDonough (Plattsburgh) have been voted the SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year. This award is nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors.

McCarey posted a 4.0 fall semester GPA, with a cumulative GPA of 3.87 as a double major in communications and English. She took third place at the conference championship meet in the 3000-meter at 9:55.29, and second in the 5000-meter. McCarey then placed 17th at the NCAA Championship in the 5000-meter.

McDonough holds a 3.86 undergraduate cumulative GPA majoring in childhood education/special education. She was named to the first-team All-SUNYAC in 2023 after winning the 800-meter run in 2:16.37 at the conference championship. She was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team. McDonough was honored on the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll the last four years (2021-22, 2020-21, 2019-20, 2018-19) and she is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
