New Paltz's DiGiovanna Reaches 1,000-Kill Milestone

Senior outside hitter Melinda DiGiovanna (West Hempstead, N.Y./West Hempstead) became just the seventh student-athlete in the history of the State University of New York at New Paltz women’s volleyball program to reach the 1,000-kill plateau, as she totaled 36 across a pair of matches against No. 20 SUNY Cortland and SUNY Plattsburgh on the first day of SUNYAC East Division Pool Play Friday Sept. 23 at SUNY Oneonta. The Hawks lost, 3-2 (25-22, 14-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-13), to the Red Dragons before topping the Cardinals, 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 17-25, 15-1).

DiGiovanna now boasts 1,018 kills on her career and seeks to move up the program’s all-time chart in the statistical category, as she ranks seventh all-time.
