2022 SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Top Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC is pleased to announce its 2022 women's cross country annual awards as voted on by the conference coaches. Geneseo's Kathleen McCarey has been named Runner of the Year for the second year in a row while teammate Sierra Doody was honored as the Rookie of the Year. Geneseo was voted Coaching Staff of the Year.

Runner of the Year- Kathleen McCarey, Geneseo  
McCarey was the 2022 Niagara Region champion finishing the race in 21:56.5. She went on to the NCAA championship meet where she placed 10th to earn All-America status. McCarey also won the Geneseo Mike Woods Invite and Harry F. Anderson Invite this season.

Rookie of the Year - Sierra Doody, Geneseo
Doody finished in fifth place (23:04.0) at the 2022 SUNYAC championship meet earning a spot on the All-Conference team. She was the top freshman at the Niagara Region championship with a sixth place finish crossing the line in 22:37.8. 

Coaching Staff of the Year - Geneseo
Head coach Dan Moore and assistant coaches Chris Popovici and Ashton Fischer led the Knights to their 11th straight and 21st overall SUNYAC women's cross country championship title in 2022. The staff had eight athletes that earned all-conference status. They also coached two athletes, Windsor Ardner and Kathleen McCarey to an eighth and 10th place finish respectively at the NCAA championship meet to earn All-America recognition.
