Geneseo Captures 2023 SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Crown; Penelope Greene Finishes First

RESULTS

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Geneseo won its 12th straight and 22nd overall SUNYAC women's cross country championship, Saturday at Fortin Park in Oneonta. Oneonta finished second and Cortland was third. Geneseo sophomore Penelope Greene won the 6k race finishing the course in 21:57.2.

Enshrinement into the Hall of Fame is attained by meeting one of the following three criteria:

Finishing in the Top 5 during one championship
Finishing in the Top 10 during two championships
Finishing in the Top 15 during three championships


Elite 20

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year the SUNYAC women's cross country Elite 20 award goes to Veronica Szygalowicz from Geneseo, a double major in Biology and socio-medical sciences maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
