SUNYAC Releases 2023 Women's Cross Country Annual Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its 2023 women's cross country yearly awards as voted on by the conference coaches. Geneseo's Penelope Greene was voted Runner of the Year while teammate Jillian O'Rourke is the Rookie of the Year. Oneonta was selected as the Coaching Staff of the Year.

Runner of the Year- Penelope Greene, Geneseo  
Greene won the 2023 SUNYAC Women's Cross Country championship race finishing the 6k course in 21:57.2. She was named to the SUNYAC All-Conference team and advanced to the NCAA Division III championship meet. At nationals, Greene finished third overall (20:59.3) to earn All-American honors and helped lead her team to a fifth place finish overall.

Rookie of the Year - Jillian O'Rourke, Geneseo
O'Rourke finished ninth in her first year running in the SUNYAC women's cross country championship meet. She helped lead her team to a first place finish which was Geneseo's 12th straight and 22nd overall conference crown. O'Rourke was named the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week September 5 after she finished second at the St. John Fisher Redenbeck Invitational.

Coaching Staff of the Year - Oneonta
The Oneonta Women's cross country team is led by Chris Wilber and assisted by Kelly Vincent and Mitchel Couch. The staff led their team a second place finish at the 2023 SUNYAC championship. Two athletes, Megan Francoeur and Ella DePhillips, were placed on the All-Conference teams after they finished 10th and 11th respectively. Both athletes advanced to compete at the NCAA Division III national championship.
