Francoeur and Hirschkind Voted SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC recognizes Geneseo's Rachel Hirschkind and Oneonta's Megan Francoeur as the 2023 Women's Cross Country Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year. This award is nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors.

Hirschkind earned All-American status for the Knights as she placed 24th at the NCAA Championship meet to help secure a 5th place finish overall for the team. Hirschkind also finished second overall at NCAA Regionals and fourth at the SUNYAC championship, helping lead the Knights to first place finishes at both events. Hirschkind was also named the SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year last spring in Outdoor Track and Field. She maintains a 3.51 overall GPA as a chemistry major at Geneseo.

In 2023, senior Francoeur placed fifth at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region championships to earn all-region honors and qualify for the Division III National championship meet where she placed 49th overall. She was an All-SUNYAC second team honoree after placing tenth in the conference meet at 23:03.5. Francoeur also finished first in three other meets and ran a personal best of 21:31.9 at the Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational. Francoeur is a childhood education major with a 3.71 overall GPA at Oneonta.
