NFCA Names Meaghan Kohler Div. III Softball National Player of the Week

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has selected SUNY Cortland sophomore outfielder Meaghan Kohler (Franklin, NJ/Warren Hills Regional) as the Louisville Slugger Division III National Player of the Week for games played April 2-8.

Kohler, who also earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Upstate New York and State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Player of the Week honors, batted .391 (9-for-23) with four home runs, a double, 17 runs batted in and seven runs scored in a 6-0 week, all on the road, for the Red Dragons.

In a doubleheader sweep at Buffalo State on Saturday, Kohler hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in each game. She finished the twinbill a combined 5-for-9 with two homers, a double and 10 RBI. She also hit two home runs, including a two-run shot in the fourth to give Cortland a 2-1 lead, in a 6-1 win Friday at Fredonia.

Kohler leads Cortland this spring with eight homers and 42 RBI in 26 games. The Red Dragons are 22-4 and ranked 14th nationally in Div. III. Cortland will host Rochester in a non-league doubleheader Friday, April 13, at 3 p.m. and will play a SUNYAC doubleheader at Oswego Saturday at noon.
