Ryan and Vandenerg Tabbed SUNYAC Men's Wrestler and Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC picks Jack Ryan from Oneonta as the league's Men's Wrestler of the Week and Braydon Vandenerg from St. John Fisher University as the Rookie of the Week.

Ryan led Oneonta to a 5-0 team record and the team title at the Electric City Duals at Scranton with four first period fall victories in the 184 class. He pinned Quinton Laughlin at 1:02 in his first match against Scranton 'A' team, then recorded a 1:12 fall against New Jersey City's Pierre Francois. Following Francois, Ryan pinned Dennis Nugra of the Scranton 'B' team in 29 seconds and capped the day off with one more first period pin against Elmira's Caleb Tuttle.

Vandenberg was incredible in the 197-pound class, working his way to the final match and took second-place. He started the day with a 17-0 technical fall victory and followed that with a pin at 2:44. In his third match, he won by a 6-1 final before advancing to take on Jaedyn Harris, who is ranked no. 14 in 197 by NWCA, in the final. The two went the distance and Vandenberg fell 5-3 to take second-place.
