SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Oneonta's Peter Sacco has been chosen as the SUNYAC Men's Wrestler of the Week while Paul Lichter from St. John Fisher University is the Men's Wrestler Rookie of the Week.
Sacco recorded two pins in under a minute as Oneonta went 2-0 in dual meets this week. Sacco first pinned Keystone College's Malachi Jones in 44 seconds at 133 lbs as Oneonta went on to win 47-3. He then went up to 141 lbs and finished Billy Beseth with another fall in 44 seconds as the Red Dragons defeated the Pioneers 46-9.
The St. John Fisher University wrestling team traveled to Cortland for the Red Dragon duals and the Cardinals faced off against the host Cortland, along with Brockport and Alfred State. Lichter went 3-0 on the day, and started with a 8-0 major decision against the Golden Eagles. In his match against Alfred, he made quick work by pinning his opponent in 1:59 and then concluded the afternoon with an 11-0 major decision over Cortland.
