SUNYAC Annual Awards Banquet to be Streamed Live May 16

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) will be live streaming its annual awards banquet, Monday, May 16 at the Holiday Inn, Liverpool, N.Y. This banquet is held to honor SUNYAC's finest student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.

At this year's banquet the winners of the Dr. Sam Molnar Men's Scholar Athlete Award, the Dr. Dolores Bogard Women's Scholar Athlete Award, the Award of Valor and the Retiree Award will be honored and interviewed after dinner which starts at 6 p.m.

This year, the Award of Valor, which is given to individuals for their ability to overcome obstacles and serve as an inspiration to others will be awarded to Geneseo women's basketball team and Geneseo men's ice hockey team. Read more here.

This year's Retiree awards will be given to Cynthia Wetmore and Joan Schockow. This award is given to individuals who coached or were in administration for 15 years or more.

Wetmore, Cortland's field hockey coach is retiring after 18 seasons with great success including 13 NCAA, 12 regional and three final four appearances as well as 13 SUNYAC titles. Read more here.

Schokow, the most successful women's soccer coach in the history of Brockport is retiring after 27 seasons. Read more here.

The Dr. Dolores Bogard (female) and Dr. Sam Molnar (men) awards are presented annually to a junior or senior athlete with the best combination of academic and athletic ability. The 2014-15 recipients, Cortland's Madeline Scozzie and Geneseo's Gordon Lyons will be honored. Read more here.
