NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – From Tuesday-Wednesday, May 24-25, the State University of New York at New Paltz served as host to the 10th-annual State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Symposium, which is held to help current students, interns and young professionals explore various areas of intercollegiate athletics.
For the third year in a row, the welcome address was delivered by SUNYAC commissioner Tom Di Camillo on Tuesday morning, and 12 different speakers in total presented on topics ranging from leadership development, to self investment, to motivating today's athlete. SUNY Maritime's president, RADM Michael Alfultis, USMS, Ph.D., delivered the keynote address on Tuesday afternoon.
The SUNYAC Symposium is a professional-development opportunity offered annually by the SUNYAC in conjunction with New Paltz, which has hosted all 10 SUNYAC Symposiums. Coaches and administrators representing all 10 SUNYAC schools have presented at the SUNYAC Symposium in the past, and past keynote speakers have included Sam Flood from NBC Sports and Kristine Lilly from U.S. Soccer. The application process for the 2017 SUNYAC Symposium will begin in January, and any questions about the event should be directed to New Paltz head women's volleyball coach Matt Giufre at giufrem@newpaltz.edu.
