Oswego and Plattsburgh Faceoff in Hockey Finals

 

 
No. 1 seed Oswego will host No. 2 seed Plattsburgh in the State University of New York Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Championship game Saturday at 7pm. The Lakers, who are 22-2-2, defeated No. 5-seed Fredonia, 8-3, last Saturday night to punch their ticket into the title game. Plattsburgh comes to town after defeating No. 3-seed Buffalo State, 4-3, in triple overtime to improve to 18-4-4 overall.
 
*The first SUNYAC ice hockey tournament was held in 1985.

*Saturday will feature the 17th time a #1 seed and #2 seed will face each other in the conference championship game.

*It is Plattsburgh’s 21st straight SUNYAC championship game (25th overall). Plattsburgh has won a record 20 SUNYAC titles (16 during tournament format).

* It is the 15th finals appearance for Oswego and fourth in the last five years (missed 2011). The Lakers have won the SUNYAC title eight times (four during tournament play: 1989, 1991, 2003, 2010).

*This will be the 24th meeting between the two teams in the SUNYAC tournament with the Cardinals holding a 19-4 advantage over the Lakers.

* Oswego and Plattsburgh have met 11 times in the championship game but the Lakers have only won twice.
