Tillaart put Morrisville St. back in the lead at 17:22 with a one-time slap shot from the left point while the Mustangs had a two-man advantage.

The Red Dragons took a 4-2 lead with the first three goals of the second period. Lysyj started the streak at 2:27, scoring with a backhand on the power play after faking Breen in front of the goal. Christiano made it a 3-2 game at 7:13. With the two-man advantage, Christiano scored on a rebound of Bevilacqua's shot. Saville then netted a short-handed goal at 8:47 when he converted a breakaway off a pass from Virgoe.

Hosmer pulled the Mustangs within 4-3 with a wrist shot from the left side that found the top right corner at 12:37 of the second. He struck again from the same spot on the ice also with a wrist shot at 6:20 of the third period to knot the game at 4-all. Not long after Cortland returned to full strength in overtime, the Mustangs were whistled for their ninth penalty of the game setting up Lysyj's heroics.
