Athletes of the week selected for men's swimming and diving

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the top men's swimmer and diver for the week. The winners were selected from top nominations made by conference members.  

Freshman J.J. Alaniz from Oswego is this week's swimmer of the week. He was a perfect six-for-six in his individual events during the week. Against Cortland, Alaniz won the 100-yard back (1:03.14), the 200-yard breast (2:18.09), and the 400-yard IM (4:23.58) to collect 27 points for the Lakers. The freshman also helped the Lakers to a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Against Buffalo State, Alaniz captured victories in the 100-yard breast (1:01.38), the 200-yard back (1:59.11), over eight seconds faster than the next fastest, and the 200-yard IM (2:00.09). The San Antonio native led off the 200-yard relay for Oswego as well, and his relay team took first place with a time of 1:40.28 

Sophomore Christian Krasnek is this week's diver of the week. He recorded an NCAA zone qualifying score of 453.50 points off the 3-meter board during two days of competition at Trinity, Texas. He won the event and finished second off the 1-meter board with 390.40 points.
