CORTLAND, NY - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected New Paltz's Stephen Smith as this week's Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.  

The junior from Wallkill, NY was the first to cross the finish line for New Paltz as the Hawks placed 19th out of 40 teams overall at the UMASS Dartmouth Invitational. Smith recorded a time of 26:02 in the 8k race, just shy of beating his personal best 8k time of 25:54.5 that was set at the Hobart and William Smith Colleges Invitational in 2016.  The Hawks have a two week break before their next contest as they will be heading to the RPI Invitational in Troy, NY on September 30th.
