Shaw and Woolley Repeat as SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the fourth time this season and second-straight week, New Paltz's Kaitlyn Shaw is the SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week while her teammate Morgan Woolley is the Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row.

Shaw led the Hawks to their first ever victory over Brockport on Friday, 11-8 after leading her team in goals (4) and points (6), while finishing with a game-high six points off four goals and two assists, adding a ground ball and pulled down four draw controls. She scored the go-ahead goal and eventual game-winner early in the fourth quarter to break the 7-7 tie, then assisted a pivotal score three minutes later to create a 10-7 cushion for her team. The senior captain led the team to their program record-setting ninth-straight win, which ties the most in program history as they improved to a perfect, 9-0 on the year and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.

Woolley once again was the defensive catalyst for the Hawks, who improved to 9-0 - tying the most wins in program history - after beating Brockport for the first time in program history. SUNY New Paltz kept the Golden Eagles to just 17 shots, only five of which came in the run of play with the rest off free position attempts. Woolley led the team defensively with a game-high five caused turnovers and also set a new program record in single season caused turnovers with 35 already on the year, surpassing the previous record of 31. She also came up with a huge caused turnover on a back-check with 1:30 left to solidify the 11-8 win for the Hawks, while adding a ground ball.
