New Paltz Sports Information Department

Northborough, MA — The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its winners for Division I, II, III and NAIA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for the week ending March 31 on Tuesday afternoon with Hawks senior Morgan Woolley becoming the first ever selected to the accolade in program history.

The IWLCA selects nine student-athletes each week to honor as IWLCA Player of the Week, which recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in all three divisions and NAIA each week.

Woolley earned IWLCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping her team improve to 9-0 — tying the most wins in program history — after beating SUNY Brockport for the first time in program history.

SUNY New Paltz limited the Golden Eagles to just 17 shots, only five of which came in the run of play with the rest coming off free position attempts. Woolley finished with a game-high five caused turnovers and in the performance, officially became the program's new single season caused turnovers leader with 35 already on the year, surpassing the previous record of 31. She also came up with crucial caused turnover in the win on a back-check with 1:30 left to solidify the 11-8 victory, while adding a ground ball.

Woolley joins Capital University midfielder Grace Osborn who earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.
