Reina and Ruschin Tabbed SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, NY - The SUNYAC picks Geneseo's Alaina Reina as the Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week and Oswego's Sophie Ruschin as the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Reina was dominant on the offensive end for the Knights as she helped lead the team to a 3-0 week. Reina opened the week against St. John Fisher, where she finished with eight goals on eight shots for a perfect shooting percentage. Additionally, she netted the game winning goal with just five seconds on the clock to give Geneseo the 12-11 win. In the game against the Cardinals, she also recorded five draw controls, two caused turnovers and one ground ball. Reina backed up her performance against St. John Fisher by leading the Knights to dominant victories over Buffalo St. and Potsdam, where she recorded a total of 10 points on nine goals and one assist between the two games. The Chili, NY native finished the week with 18 points on 17 goals, a shooting percentage of 85.0, eight draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Ruschin was a key part of the Lakers undefeated week that finished with a win over undefeated New Paltz. Over two games she collected 4 ground balls, caused 6 turnovers, and had 11 draw controls. It was her draw control late in the fourth against New Paltz that lead to the game tying goal. Sophie is also currently tied for third in the conference in draw controls.
