Shaw and Atwater Tabbed SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC picks New Paltz's Kaitlyn Shaw and Morgan Atwater as this week's Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Shaw earns SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week honors for the fifth time this season after she led the Hawks in points (13) and goals (12) on the week to help her team improve to 11-0 on the season. Faceguarded for most of the game against Plattsburgh, Shaw still managed to score three goals and added an assist in an 18-1 rout of the Cardinals, while adding three ground balls and one caused turnover. She then made history once again in an 18-5 road win over Fredonia. She not only led with a game-high nine goals, which tied her career high and the program's single game goals record, which she set herself earlier in the year, but also surpassed 70 points on the season, which broke the single season points mark that was previously set back in 2012. She also added a game-high five ground balls with three caused turnovers.

Atwater earns this honor for the second time this season after she was all over the field in the Hawks' two wins on the week over Plattsburgh and Fredonia to help her team improve to a perfect 11-0. Atwater picked up a game-high seven ground balls, five draw controls and a game-high five caused turnovers while also leading her team offensively with a career-high seven goals and one assist. She again led her team on the defensive end with a game-high four caused turnovers against the Blue Devils, while picking up a team-high four ground balls, while adding three goals on the day. In total, she picked up a team-leading 11 ground balls and caused nine turnovers.
