Cortland Captures 2024 SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Crown

PLATTASBURGH, N.Y. - Cortland topped Plattsburgh, 3-2, in overtime to win its first-ever SUNYAC men's ice hockey championship, Saturday night at Plattsburgh's Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. With the win the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA tournament.

Anthony Bernardo was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP after scoring the game-winning goal in the championship game. He also had the game-winner in the semifinal and scored a goal in the first round of the tournament.

Elite 20

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The SUNYAC honored Eli Shiller from Plattsburgh as this year's Men's Ice Hockey Elite 20 winner. He is a sophomore business administration major maintinging a 3.98 overall GPA.
