Geneseo Men's Ice Hockey Earns NCAA Tournament Bid, Set To Host Curry on Sat. March 9

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team will keep their 2024 season going as they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament on Monday morning. The Knights will play host to Curry on Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in the Ira S. Wilson Arena. Stay tuned to geneseoknights.com for ticket information.

Geneseo enters the tournament with a 21-5 overall record, while Curry sits at 20-5-1. This will mark the 10th appearance in program history for the Knights in the NCAA tournament, with their most recent appearance coming in the 2021-22 season, where they reached the national championship game.

Geneseo was led this season on defense by junior goaltender Adam Harris, who was named the SUNYAC Goaltender of the Year. Harris was also named First-Team All-SUNYAC after starting 16 games and finishing the regular season with a record of 12-3. Harris tallied 425 saves on the season with a save percentage of .928 and a goals allowed average of 2.28. In conference games, the Burlington, Ont. native played 10 games and tallied 287 saves with a GAA of 1.99. He also had a save percentage of .938, the best of any goaltender that played at least 10 games. Joining Harris on the defensive unit was fellow First-Team All-SUNYAC honoree Alex Wilkins. Wilkins had a stellar season on the defensive line for the Knights, leading a unit that only allowed 2.1 goals per game, tying Plattsburgh for best in the conference. The Kennet Square, P.A. native led the team with an impressive 41 blocked shots after playing in all 25 games. Wilkins also finished the year with four goals and 16 assists for 20 points, good enough for fifth-best on the team.

Offensively, junior Peter Morgan and sophomore Alex Dameski helped lead the way for the Knights. Morgan, a Second-Team All-SUNYAC honoree, led Geneseo in points for the third-straight season, putting 34 points in his junior campaign. The Sarasota, F.L. native tallied 10 goals and 24 assists, with his season being highlighted by a four-point performance in the Knights home victory over Oswego. Dameski earned Second-Team recognition after leading Geneseo in goals scored with 19. Dameski's 19 goals also marked the second-most in the conference. The Oakville, Ont. native also tallied 10 assists, putting him tied for third on the team for the season in points. His year was highlighted by hat tricks against Brockport and Fredonia.

Curry had three players this season finish above 20 points, with Gage Dill and Eelis Laaksonen leading the way at 27 points each. In goal, Shane Soderwall started 19 games for the Colonels, starting 16 games and tallying 475 saves with a GAA of just 1.66. Soderwall led the Commonwealth Coast Conference in GAA and save percentage (.942).
