Cortland's Mateo Marra Named Men's Soccer First Team All-American

Cortland senior midfielder Mateo Marra (Ossining) has been chosen as a 2023 Division III Men's Soccer First Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. 
 
Marra appeared in 19 games this past fall, 14 as a starter. He tied for first on the team with 11 goals and was first with 11 assists and 33 total points. He scored three game-winning goals. 
 
Marra was the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year and the SUNYAC Tournament MVP during the season. He recorded two goals and two assists in Cortland's SUNYAC tournament semifinal win over Buffalo State, as well as two goals and two assists in a regular-season win over Fredonia and three assists in a win versus Potsdam. He scored Cortland's lone goal in a 1-1 tie versus Case Western Reserve in the NCAA tournament second round, as well as converting the first of Cortland's shootout penalty kicks to help the Red Dragons advance. 
 
Cortland finished the season with a 16-3-3 record. The Red Dragons were the SUNYAC regular-season champion for the third straight year and won their second SUNYAC tournament title in three seasons. Cortland advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament third round for the third straight year to tie for ninth place nationally.
