Simzer Voted SUNYAC Field Hockey Scholar Athlete of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selected Oswego's Kacie Simzer as the 2022 Field Hockey Scholar Athlete of the Year as nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors. 

Simzer, a wellness management major with a cumulative GPA of 3.9 earned a spot on the NFHCA All-Region team by leading Oswego in goals (17) and points (36). Simzer tied the all-time Oswego points and goals record in a single game twice in her senior season. The Clinton, NY native led the SUNYAC in goals scored (17) as well as points (36) and shots on goal (49). Simzer took runner up in total shots (68) and was tied for third in the conference in game-winning goals with three.

During each season, the conference honors student-athletes for their efforts in their sport, as well as their academics. Out of hundreds of spring athletes, one athlete from each sport was selected for this distinction. In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
