Plunkett and Morgan Earn Field Hockey Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has picked forward Natasia Plunkett from New Paltz as the Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week and goalkeeper Emma Morgan from Cortland the Defensive Athlete for week two of the 2022 season.

Plunkett had a career day in a 5-3 win over St. John Fisher on the road Saturday. She was responsible for three of five goals scored by the Hawks on the day, including the game-winner in the third period to push her team back ahead. She set a career-high in goals (3) and points (6), while playing all 60 minutes of the win, totaling a game-high fix shots for a .600 shooting percentage.

Morgan helped lead 18th-ranked Cortland (3-0) to a pair of non-conference victories last week, posting a 2-0 record with a 0.50 GAA, an .800 save percentage and one shutout. In a 3-1 home win versus Rochester on Tuesday, Morgan stopped two shots. She then registered two saves as the Red Dragons defeated Misericordia, 7-0, on the road on Friday night. For the season, Morgan has posted a 3-0 record with a 0.33 GAA, an .800 save percentage and two shutouts.
