SUNYAC selects Men's Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the recipients of its weekly awards for men's ice hockey. Morrisville junior Nick DeVito (Averill Park, N.Y.) has been tabbed as the Player of the Week, Geneseo senior Devin McDonald (Calgary, Alta.) is the Goaltender of the Week, and Geneseo freshman Brendan Miller (North Tonawanda, N.Y.)  has been named Rookie of the Week.

Devito led Morrisville to a 5-3 win over Potsdam Friday night, netting a combined five points behind three goals and two assists. He collected his first assist of the night in the first period on the power play to even the score at one after the first, before assisting a second power play score 6:54 into the third to cut the deficit to one (3-2). Just over two minutes later his power play score pulled the Mustangs even at three with the hosts, before adding two more for the third period hat trick as he lifted Morrisville State to the come-from-behind SUNYAC win.

McDonald totaled 27 saves to backstop the Knights' 3-1 victory over No. 15 Fredonia as well as their 13th-consecutive win. He currently leads the nation with a 1.00 goals against average and ranks second with a .951 save percentage and moved into 14th place in NCAA Division III history with his 62nd-career victory.

Geneseo rookie Miller scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Friday's 3-1 victory over No. 15 Fredonia. His one-timer in front with 1:38 on the second-period clock was the difference as the Knights won for the 13th-consecutive time.
